NOTE
The name William Wilson displayed over the arch in this photograph shows that it was taken between 1889 and 1901, when he was the proprietor of the Inn.

Steve of the Stokesley Loop says:


Members may be interested to know that the symbol above the arch of the Golden Lion is the 'Winged Wheel', the emblem of The Cyclists’ Touring Club. The CTC is the first and oldest (cycle) touring club in the world and was founded in 1878.
